I don't read or review many YA books, but I do have a 15-year-old who participates in YALSA's teen reviews of pre-published copies of YA books each summer.
Our local library forwards the books to the teens on their Advisory Boards. The teens choose two or three to read, log them out, read them at home, write a review and return them. She finished her 2nd summer of reading and writing reviews, and unfortunately, this summer she ended up not recommending any of the books she read.
The top 10 list from 2017 did not include anything she read or reviewed, unfortunately, but then, as a rule, we're not fans of the YA romance genre, and most of the Top 10 books involve -- well, romance.
From last year, we (both) loved this one with its no-nonsense, kick-butt and take names MC, and were disappointed it was not included in the "Top 10" list.
