Klawde is from the planet Lyttyrboks. A planet of all cats.
Hold your breath -- he's an evil alien warlord, exiled to Earth for his evil deeds, while he was napping.
He looks like a cat, and acts like a cat, and lands on Earth in the rain. Soaking and miserable, cursing his lack of opposable thumbs, he jumps up to ring the doorbell. Poor naive and misguided 11-year-old Raj lets him in and worse -- names him. (You know about naming stray cats, right? Give them a name and they're no longer strays -- they're yours.)
Raj quickly discovers Klawde can talk. Klawde pulls the -- cat hair? -- over on Raj and convinces him he was a loving, wonderful despot.
Klawde is desperate to get back to Lyttyrboks, get revenge on the cat who stole his evil warlord title and banished him to this planet of hairless ogres. He builds a teleporter from a toaster and a few other components bought on the Internet.
But just as he's planning to head back to Lyttyrboks, Raj goes to nature survival camp -- and needs rescuing.
I won't spoil the ending, just know, reading this book produced loud, explosive guffaws, snorts and exclamations of delight!
Truly, enjoy this read. It's great.
Prepare for more hijinks from Klawde as he attempts to reclaim his rightful spot as tyrannical warlord of a planet of cats.
He's more determined than ever to get revenge on Flooffee-Fyr, his former right-hand cat turned traitor, and General Ffangg, the new evil warlord of the planet Lyttyrboks.
Klawde decides to try to teach the neighborhood cats physics. Flabby Tabby falls asleep on him. So Klawde adopts three kittens from a local rescue (via the Internet, of course), and trains them to be his new generals, his claw-power to take back his throne. The boys are virtually un-trainable, but their sister...yes, she's ruthless. Pounce-happy. She'll do nicely.
Until an old enemy shows up -- General Ffangg, who's now also been exiled to Earth. When he tries to steal Klawde's kitten cadets, it's WAR.
Meanwhile Raj starts middle school. He lets slip that one of his former friends (former, as in the kid ditched him and stopped being friends with him when the boy's mom got famous) from his old NY school was the son of a comic book author / illustrator. And that the author drew him in one story. Ok, maybe one panel. He brags a little more, exaggerates a bit about how close friends he was with the boy before he moved, but it's enough.
Cameron Addams shows up at his school, and it's WAR -- of the robots, that is. In the after school robotics club.
More riotous laughter and snorting while reading this one. Delightful!
You know if Lyttyrboks is the planet of all cats, there's got to be an all-dog planet.
And that Klawde once blew up one of their planets. Yep.
When the Pack of United Planets Peacekeeping Service (PUPPS) pinpoints Klawde's location on Earth, they send Comrade Barx to bring him to justice.
Barx shows up a stray on Raj's doorstep -- and it's WAR -- but this time, over Raj's heart.
In the process, Klawde manages to score some public relations points at home, on Lyttyrboks, against the evil she-kitten who's taken over his warlord throne. Will he finally get home, to rule on his own terms?
No, I'm not going to spoil the ending. It was super-duper cute.
And there's a 4th book coming out soon, so ... read up!
