We love the DC character origin story of Wonder Woman in Warbringer, and I was tickled pink to find the Marvel Squirrel Girl books, so this was no exception. Plus, we've loved Eoin Colfer's books since reading The Legend Of... series and my kiddos nearly peed their (then-recently transitioned from diapers) pants, they laughed so hard!
Now that they're full-fledged teens, they really enjoyed Tony Stark's story, as told by Colfer.
Tony's father squashes his son's idealistic dreams as"toys" that will be converted to destroy, rather than save, the world early on, but a kernel of them tenaciously hangs on, albeit hidden from most everyone -- including Tony.
He's in his early 20s, using a "party" version of the suit (equipped with awesome speakers, laser lights, disco effects, etc.) to DJ at big events, when they spot an "anomaly" off the coast of ... Ireland, of course! Where else would it be? Colfer is writing this, after all.
Caught off guard by his own AI, Friday, who's not an AI (I won't reveal who it is or how she pulled off the deception), he's taken down and is forced to fight the Mandarin (remember him?) for Friday's life and his own.
Together they have to battle the Mandarin and his goons to prevent the total annihilation of world leaders at an eco summit in Dublin.
A fun, summer romp in the Party Pack suit!
