If you've read my reviews before, you're aware we don't watch movies that have books, especially if we've read the book first. But every now and then, one will catch us unawares, and we'll see the movie first, and then discover the book. Like Trollhunters, they're spoiled popcorn.
This was one of those. We'd seen Maleficent, the movie, and had no idea there were books, although I think this was written after the movie (?). In any case, we went into it with the movie images already in mind, so ...
This takes up where the movie left off. If you wondered how Aurora's relationship with Maleficent develops, how Aurora continues ruling the two realms, the Moors and Perceforest -- this is the book for you.
There are political machinations behind the scenes to keep her from the young man she loves, and steer her toward a Prince with a rather clueless but rotten heart, and Maleficent is back to her old, nefarious ways -- mostly. She's not killing anyone -- yet.
It was a fun, quick read.
