Great Action Read!

Rebels of the Lamp, by Michael M.B. Galvin and Peter Speakman

· MG Books
Rebels of the Lamp, Michael M.B. Galvin and Peter Speakman

My son discovered this one at the library, and we were both pleasantly surprised and pleased at the fast-paced action plot. It features two teen boys, cousins, Theo and Parker, and a girl, Reese.

There's a little bit for everybody in this story: a bike vs. car chase, off-roading a Porsche (something my son loves to do in Forza!) through the woods, a dog fight between a private jet and a Russian MIG, lots of explosions, a wish-granting good genie and the requisite evil genie who ruins all the fun.

There's a sub-plot about saving the world from a wicked sorcerer, who's just beginning to wake up, that appears near the end and I'm sure is developed in the sequel. Unfortunately, our library doesn't have it. I've put in a request to buy it, but it could be a while before we see it.

I could almost envision this one as a movie, it was written so cinematically.

My son gave it two thumbs up!
