We were hooked on Charlie Thorne on the first book! We love everything by Stuart Gibbs. This book resonated with us, especially at the end when Charlie gets it, how some things are better off left "undiscovered."
If you've read book 1, this is a loose continuation of that storyline, which has Charlie as the only person on Earth who now knows Einstein's secret last equation and it makes her a wanted person, for governments and nefarious crime syndicates world-wide.
So when a would-be envrionmentalist seeks her opinion at the exact same time a Russian spy comes to pick her up from her remote hiding spot in the Galapagos Islands, you kinda know where she's headed next, right? To find an amazing, secret discovery made by Charles Darwin a century ago on his famous sea voyage.
Turns out, there's a bunch of these secrets that famous and brilliant scientists have kept hidden all around the world, and the CIA wants to get Charlie on board finding them for the agency.
Just keep in mind, as you're reading, Charlie's 25 steps ahead of anyone trying to catch up to her. It turns out, she's pretty much figured out what Darwin kept hidden in a chest he tried to bring home from his voyage but the ship captain ordered destroyed because the world wasn't ready for it. Couldn't handle it. Can we handle it now?
Clearly, that's debatable.
This is a thrilling, action-packed adventure spy/thriller that's quickly turning into the best series Gibbs has written to date! (Although we still love Teddy & Summer -- keep the Fun Jungle books coming, too!). This is sure to be a hit gift. Enjoy.
