You've had time to research the mentors and pick out the ones you think will be a good match for your manuscript. You've sent that MS to crit partners, polished it, maybe even sent it out to beta readers for feedback, and they all love it.
Then get ready to apply to AMM.
The mentee submission window opens Jan. 12-14.
My contemporary fantasy MG, Dragon Scales, is undergoing another rewrite. I've also got my first adult murder mystery, Babytime on the Border, which I'm still revising (from a rough draft). I've gone over the plot changes it needs with my alpha reader (my amazing husband!) and going chapter by chapter. I won't make it in time for that MS to be polished enough to enter it. So I'm sitting this round out.
If you've got a MS and query package (query letter, Twitter or short logline pitch, 1-page synopsis, comparables, etc.), I highly recommend taking a shot with this mentoring contest.
And of course, after AMM comes Revise and Resub in April... and WriteMentor for the summer. I'll keep you posted on the deadlines for those.
