My goodness! It felt like we waited ages for this book, given how quickly my two kiddos devoured the first four, years and years ago. This was my son's all-time favorite series through middle school.
It's only fitting that the four characters are now teens, with the exception of Constance (she was three when the series started, after all!). Reynie's looking at college applications / invitations, Sticky's ditched his nickname to go by George, Kate wants to be a field agent like her father, Milligan, and Constance is still...contrary, although a bit older and more discerning.
There's a new addition to the crew -- a telepath, like Constance, Tai Li. He's older than Constance was, but he's now the youngest and he's got stars in his eyes about all his heroes -- the members of the Society.
But Tai -- or Constance, either will do -- are the new targets of Crawlings and the 13 Ten Men (yeah, you read that right!), the Baker's Dozen. He's got his own telepath who's battling Constance to get to Tai, all in pursuit of a formula that, once consumed, gives the drinker genius.
I won't spoil the story. It's exquisitely plotted, as we've come to expect, and keeps you glued to the page to read the next twist and turn. It's a fun read! Enjoy.
